Counseling

We offer free counseling services to victims and survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and their family members, regardless of whether the event(s) took place recently or in the past. Our counseling program engages licensed counselors and trained counseling interns to help you, or your loved ones move through crisis toward healing. We offer a solution focused brief counseling approach that includes 12 individual counseling sessions, group support and family counseling and other therapeutic modalities that are tailored to address the client’s needs. Services are also available in Spanish.

The journey from victim to survivor can be difficult to navigate on your own. The professional counselors at LiveSafe Resources are here to travel alongside you through the ups, downs, and challenges in the healing process. Wherever you find yourself along that journey—no matter if it’s a recent trauma or something that occurred in the past—our counselors are ready to use their skill and expertise to create a safe and compassionate space for you to heal.

Our services are confidential and led by licensed counselors with master’s degree-level training in professional counseling, social work, marriage or family counseling and trained counseling interns. Our interns work under the supervision of a licensed clinical social worker professional and confer with supervisor regarding their cases. This clinical and case supervision includes extensive training in case assessment and therapeutic techniques

The counseling program at LiveSafe Resources engages trauma-informed, evidenced-based practices to help each client move through crisis toward healing. Our brief counseling approach allows us to give clients the guidance and support they need in their journey toward healing and having balance. We will help each client design a treatment plan that meets their specific needs.

Individual Counseling
Working through trauma related to sexual or relationship violence is a sensitive process that benefits from a safe, private setting. Our counseling services provide you with a counselor who is virtual and dedicated to hearing your individual story and help you navigate through the healing process safely and securely. We provide services to both children (ages 9 and older) and adults.

Group Counseling
Sometimes knowing you are not alone on this journey is essential for healing. Our groups offer opportunities for you to connect with others who understand the challenges of recovering from sexual assault or domestic violence. We currently offer virtual support groups for our housing clients and the public. In some cases, childcare may be provided for these groups when in-house. View our current group schedule.

Services in Spanish
We can accommodate Spanish-speaking clients in individual counseling and support groups.

Advocates are standing by to take your call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide information and refer you to services or programs. This is a free, confidential resource available to those experiencing abuse or to friends and family who are concerned that a loved one is being abused.

Hotline services include

  • A direct connection to domestic violence resources

LiveSafe Resources also offers the following services:

  • 24-hour medical forensic exams by Nurse Examiners in a private facility for victims ages 13 and older

  • Domestic violence shelter for adults and their children

  • Longer-term housing for domestic violence, sexual assault and elder abuse survivors

  • Legal advocacy to help navigate the court system and acquire Temporary Protective Orders (TPO’s)
